Veteran raises over £12 million for the NHS! Posted On 16 April 2020

Captain Tom Moore set himself a challenge to walk 100 laps of his back garden before he turns 100 on 30th April; raising money for the NHS while doing so

Tom’s 100th Birthday Walk for the NHS fundraising page has amassed over £12 million in donations and – despite a recent hip operation – he completed his challenge this morning – way ahead of his 30th April deadline.

Born and brought up in Keighley, Yorkshire, Tom, who served in India and Burma, originally set out to raise £1,000 and has been left amazed at the donations coming in, saying on his Twitter feed: “Thank you so much. The JustGiving page has crashed with all your amazing efforts. I salute you all. Incredible and now words fail me. #walkwithtom #TomorrowWillBeAGoodDay”

Donations to Captain Tom’s chosen charity, NHS Charities Together, can still be made at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tomswalkforthenhs

And you can watch Tom complete his final lap here: https://twitter.com/BBCNews/status/1250691140514390016

You can also send a birthday card to Tom! Simply post to: Captain Tom Moore, C/O Post Office Limited, 67 Bedford Road, Marston Moretaine, MK43 0LA, Bedfordshire, England or send a virtual card using the hashtag #makeacardfortom
